Bagrati Cathedral stands in Kutaisi – the third largest city in Georgia. This church was built in the 10th-11th centuries AD by King Bagrat the 3rd.
This church is the symbol of unity and strength of Georgia. It was constructed to celebrate the unification of the smaller kingdoms (regions) that make Georgia as we know it today.
Bagrati cathedral has seen many invasions and destruction throughout the centuries, however it was recently restored to its original design.
Bagrati Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Sight.
