The original Sioni Cathedral was built in the 6th-7th centuries, but it has undergone several reconstructions and renovations over the centuries. The current structure dates back to the 13th century.
The cathedral is situated on Sioni Street, in the historic district of Old Tbilisi, near the banks of the Kura River.
