Georgian (Kartuli) is the official language. It has its own unique alphabet. English is widely spoken in Tbilisi and tourist areas, while Russian is common among the older generation.

Georgian Lari (GEL). Credit cards are accepted in most hotels and restaurants in cities, but cash is essential for rural areas and small guesthouses.
Religion
The majority of the population practices Orthodox Christianity. Georgia was one of the first countries to adopt Christianity as a state religion in the 4th century.
